Too many companies spend thousands on smart web pages continuously updated with interesting information. Interesting inasmuch as staff spend time reading them all and debating the change in stock price. IT staff enjoy creating them and feel special running them. Can your business afford this "fun"?
People want some stability in their lives and having sources of information being hard to use or changing all the time leads to A4 printouts stuck on walls. These A4's like eg product ID numbers, promulgate use of old information which leads to waste and mistakes apart from drawing pins going into the walls of million dollar office fitouts.
you need a system the workgroup can own and edit. No getting in line for the IT web page person and then having to provide a business case why a link to "Used cars.com" is a vital link you want on the company web page....much more fun and you can drive..not some superspecialist...maybe not as fast but at your pace...and in any colour or size font that works for your team
. ...no telephone lists you need a magnifying glass to read or are so slow the caller has hung up before the finds the number...you need a phone book that says who does accounts, who sells what and who do you put a call to when that person is out and the caller does not want voicemail
...sure your expert permanent knows that stuff but does the lunchtime relief or the agency temp....we all hate it
